Funerals
The death of beloved family member or friend is a most distressing experience, especially when we consider the immediate duty of arranging their funeral service. The clergy of Prestatyn with Rhuddlan parish will do all that we can to assist you in this difficult time.
The dates and times of funerals are arranged by the parish, in conjunction with the funeral directors and the cemetery/crematorium authorities. We shall make every effort to accommodate the date and time of your choice but this may be determined by the availability of the church and the parish clergy.
We would kindly request you to make arrangements for the type of service, including details of sacred music, hymns, scripture readings and eulogies, directly with the parish. Please call the parish on 01745 854304, to make an appointment with one of the parish clergy as soon as convenient, after your preliminary visit to the funeral director. This will enable us to discuss your preferences and complete your arrangements in time for the funeral directors to produce your Orders of Service, if you have requested them.
We are able to provide three types of liturgy (service):
1. A funeral Mass in church.
2. A funeral service without Mass, in church.
3. A funeral service in a crematorium.
Please note that, irrespective of the type of service or where it is conducted, a Catholic Funeral Mass/Service is a sacred liturgy and its content is regulated by the liturgical authorities of the Catholic Church and is not composed by the local parish clergy. Consequently, we would respectfully ask you to be aware that a Catholic Funeral Liturgy does not take the form of a personalised memorial service.
However, we shall endeavour to make the service as personal as possible by discussing with you, your choice of sacred music, hymns, scripture readings and how far you would like your family members or friends to contribute to the service by proclaiming the readings or delivering a eulogy. To enable us to assist you as well as we can, please contact the parish at your earliest convenience.
