Junior Church
The Junior Church meets every Sunday during 11:00 Mass in Ss Peter and Frances, Prestatyn, school term time only. An open invitation is extended to ALL children aged 4 and over to join (whether members of our family parish or simply visiting).
Parents or guardians are requested to bring their children into the hall before Mass starts, where our Catechists will celebrate the liturgy with the children.
The children are brought into the church by the Catechists during the offertory procession and will sit with the Catechists at the front of the church, where seats will be reserved for them. They remain with the Catechists so that they can congregate around the altar for The Lord’s Prayer and then return to their parent or guardian to share the rest of the Mass.
Junior Church is an ideal opportunity for children to share the Gospel with other children, make friends and fun crafts centred on the Gospel message of that day. Their work is brought into church with the offertory gifts, and then displayed on the Junior Church display board in the hall for all to enjoy. At the end of each church year, the children’s work is returned to their parents or guardians as a lovely keepsake.
The Catechists arrange regular parties for the children together with the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday and the much-loved Nativity Tableau at Christmas. The children are encouraged to join in fund raising activities for the Junior Church, such as cake sales and coffee mornings. Last year, the Junior Church was able to raise funds to treat the children to the Christmas Pantomime!
Youth Mass is celebrated usually on the last Sunday of every month, term time, and the children are invited and encouraged to sit together and participate in the readings, the singing and the offertory.
Our Junior Church Catechists also prepare the children for the sacraments of First Reconciliation First Holy Communion and Confirmations at the relevant time.
