Children who will reach the age of seven by 30 June 2025 may enrol in the preparation classes which will be held in spring 2025. Parents are asked to see a member of the parish clergy after Mass on Sunday to enrol children in the preparation programme. Please note that the request for enrolment can only be made, in person, by a parent or guardian of the child. Requests for enrolment cannot be made by other family members or friends. Please note also that you cannot enrol children in the preparation course by email, SMS text or telephone.
We shall give you a registration form for your child and when you have completed this, you should return it in person to a member of the parish clergy. Please do not post the form. We shall then check the details which you have given and let you know whether any further documents are needed. For example, if your child was not Baptised in Prestatyn or Rhuddlan, we shall ask you to obtain a current Baptism certificate from the church of their Baptism and we shall give you that church's contact details if you do not have them.
We shall announce the start date of the Preparation Course at Mass on or shortly after Easter Sunday 2025. The classes will take place after the 11:00 Mass each Sunday and will last about 30 minutes. These will be conducted by our trained parish catechists who are fully qualified and meet all our diocesan safeguarding requirements. It is very important that children preparing for First Holy Communion take part in regular Sunday Mass and attend all of the classes in the Preparation Course.
The date for the celebration of First Holy Communion 2025 will be announced during Advent.
